Job Description:

The primary objective of a Business Solution Architect is to help the business implement technology solutions in a cost-effective manner by determining project requirements and clearly communicating them to stakeholders, facilitators, and partners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Leadership: Act as the lead Business Solution Architect from project inception to implementation, often handling multiple projects simultaneously, which requires a high degree of managerial skill.

  • Support and Direction: Provide guidance to BA4 AVPs, handle change requests, and ensure projects stay within allotted time constraints.

  • Building Confidence: Gain respect and create a sense of confidence among IT and business end-users by speaking authoritatively about business and technology and demonstrating strong technical aptitude.

Technical Abilities

To identify effective business solutions, a Business Solution Architect should be familiar with current information technology applications, potential new outcomes achievable through existing platforms, and the latest technological advancements. Testing software and designing business systems are essential technical skills. Speaking confidently about business and technology and demonstrating a strong technical aptitude is crucial for gaining respect and confidence among IT and business end-users.

Analytical Skills

A Business Solution Architect should possess outstanding analytical skills to accurately interpret and translate a customer’s business needs into application and operational requirements. Analyzing data, documents, user input, surveys, and workflows to determine the best course of action to resolve business problems is a key aspect of the job. Strong analytical skills are essential for successfully performing the role.

Problem-Solving Skills

Creating workable solutions to business problems is a necessary skill for a Business Solution Architect. The role involves dealing with frequent and random changes, as custom business solutions are rarely predictable. Identifying and resolving problems quickly to ensure the successful completion of projects is vital.

Stakeholder Management

Collaborate with the wider project team to understand the needs of each stakeholder throughout the change project and ensure these needs are met by the project team. Business Solution Architects spend a significant amount of time interacting with users, clients, management, and developers. The success of a project often depends on the Business Solution Architect's ability to clearly communicate project requirements, requested changes, and testing results.
